GSC Police Officer Named Officer of the Year
Gordon State College Police Officer Jody Alford has been named the department's Officer of the Year for 2017.
Alford, a patrolman currently on the midnight shift, has been a member of the campus police department for 18 years. He has been in law enforcement for 23 years.
"It was a great honor receiving this award for the first time from my department," Alford said. "I enjoy working here and will continue to protect and serve the students, faculty, and staff at Gordon State College."
Alford was selected for the honor by supervisors in the department.
"During 2017 our office hired four new full-time officers, and Officer Alford stepped up, leaving his day shift to train these new officers," said GSC Police Chief Jeff Mason. "Officer Alford's dedication to duty and detailed professionalism is an asset to our department."
Alford lives in Milner with his wife, Tracey. He enjoys traveling, the Braves and Falcons, NASCAR and hunting and fishing.
