Kristen Albritton has been named the Vice President of Finance and Administration for Gordon State College.
Albritton, a Barnesville native, comes to Gordon from the Lamar County School System where she served as the Director of Finance.
She holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Georgia Southern.
Albritton says working at Gordon has always been a goal.
"I began dual enrollment here in the evenings when I was in the 10th grade," she said. "My mother, Susan Byars, taught math and I would go to class next to where she was teaching."
Only on the job a few days, Albritton says that things have been, "busy, but really great."
"I am excited to be here and thrilled to be a part of all the great things going on at Gordon State College. This position is perfect for me as I am a people and numbers person. It allows me to use the professional experience and knowledge I have gained over the past 15 years to give back to the community and to the Institution that gave me both the foundation and the opportunity to achieve my goals," she said.
Albritton lives a few minutes away from campus with her husband, Greg, and children Grace, 12, Aidan, 9, and her mother in a house recently renovated "to give us all our own space," she laughs.
