Gordon State College welcomed alumni back to campus for its annual Gordon Military Alumni Weekend held April 11–13, celebrating generations of Gordon’s legacy. The Class of 1965 marked their 60th reunion, while the Class of 1966 gathered in anticipation of their milestone celebration next year.

Susan R. Hoffman, alumni affairs administrator and GSC alumna who played a key role in organizing this year’s event, reflected on the meaningful connections made during the weekend:

“It was truly heartwarming to see so many familiar faces back on campus for our alumni reunion weekend,” Hoffman said. “Meeting alumni in person and hearing their incredible stories from their time at Gordon was both inspiring and energizing.”

The three-day celebration included welcome gatherings at the GSC Alumni House, guided campus tours, and an overview of historical archives. Alumnus David Black provided musical entertainment with a performance of popular hits spanning the 1960s to the 1990s.

“I’m grateful to everyone who came to reconnect, share memories, and offer thoughtful ideas. Their passion and input continue to shape a brighter future for [GSC] and the next generation of Highlanders,” Hoffman said. “With their ongoing support, we look forward to growing stronger together as one Gordon family.”

As part of the weekend’s events, attendees also gathered for the Military Memorial Roll Call, held for the fifth consecutive year. The observance was led by Cecil McDaniel, GSC Foundation board member and 1970 graduate.

Following the ceremony, alumni received an overview of GSC’s current strategies and forward-focused initiatives from President Dr. Donald J. Green, Provost Dr. J. Ardovini, and Executive Director of Advancement Natalie Rischbieter. The presentation highlighted academic advancements, campus developments, and student success efforts. A Q&A session followed, giving alumni the opportunity to engage directly with college leadership.

The celebration concluded Sunday morning with coffee and pastries at the Alumni House.
