Gordon State College continues to be recognized as one of the best in the state for its online RN to BSN program, ranking in at No. 4 in the 8th annual list of best Bachelor of Science in nursing programs for 2024 in Georgia.

According to RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization, GSC’s “highly respected” online RN to BSN program was highlighted for its accommodating eight-week course formats, three start-dates per year and its affordable tuition for Georgia residents.

“I am honored and grateful that our programs have been recognized as some of the best in the state. The nursing faculty work hard to assure that students have many opportunities for success. This shows in the quality of the students that graduate from Gordon’s nursing programs and the workforce that we serve,” said Dr. Samantha H. Bishop, GSC director of nursing and health sciences.

The nursing advocacy organization’s website states that many healthcare employers prefer to hire BSN-educated RNs. Therefore, many nurses are considering going back to school to complete their baccalaureate education. GSC Bachelor of Science in nursing is designed for those wanting to achieve this goal. It offers registered nurses the opportunity to obtain a baccalaureate through an RN to BSN completion program. The program emphasizes professional development, research, health promotion, community health and leadership.

Dr. Victor H. Vilchiz, GSC dean of the School of Nursing, Health, and Natural Sciences said the GSC nursing department is continuously expanding opportunities for students to address the workforce needs and achieve success in their chosen healthcare field. The newly revised LPN Bridge program is a testament to this commitment.

“It is great that the efforts of our nursing department continue to be recognized. Our nursing program has always strived to be responsive to workforce needs,” Vilchiz said. “Our revised LPN to RN bridge program is designed to be workforce friendly as it will only require face-to-face instruction once a week. Additionally, this program will also accept paramedics who want to transition into nursing.”

With the introduction of the LPN Bridge program, entry-level professional nurses will gain extensive knowledge and essential skills to enhance their capabilities. Graduates of this program will be well-prepared to deliver direct care to individuals across all age groups, in a wide range of healthcare settings.

The GSC Pre-Licensure BSN Nursing program along with the Associate of Science in nursing (ASN) program have full approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing. The BSN and ASN programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
