Gordon State College Leads State College Sector in Dual Enrollment for Fall 2021

University System of Georgia (USG) enrollment dipped only slightly this fall despite facing similar challenges that have buffeted higher education institutions nationally. Total enrollment stands at 340,638 students attending the state’s 26 public colleges and universities.
Overall, the USG saw a decrease of only 851 students or .2% across the state as campuses returned to in-person instruction and activities while maintaining the health and safety of campus communities.
Locally, Gordon State College reported the smallest decrease among the nine state college’s in the sector for fall enrollment numbers.
Gordon State College also had a record number of dual enrollment students totaling 541 which was the highest number in the state college sector. Overall, dual enrollment increased by 3.7% across the USG.
"We are so pleased to see the continued increase in students taking dual enrollment courses. Our commitment to increasing the college-going rate within the region is resonating,” said President Kirk A. Nooks.
Within the USG, enrollment increased at only five institutions, but the USG has performed better than its peers nationally, overall experiencing more positive enrollment trends than many public and private four-year institutions across the country.
“I appreciate all the challenges our students have overcome as they have persisted on their journey toward their degree from a USG institution,” said USG Acting Chancellor Teresa MacCartney. “I applaud our presidents, faculty and staff for all they’ve done to make this fall successful.”
The enrollment numbers were released in the USG’s “Fall 2021 Semester Enrollment Report,” which analyzes enrollment data by institution, age, gender, race and ethnicity, in-state, out-of-state and international students. The full report is available here.
