Student Awarded Wine and Spirits Wholesalers Scholarship

Jordan Blair has been awarded the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation Scholarship.

Blair, a Gordon State College freshman who plans to major in nursing, says the scholarship has given her a "huge opportunity."

"I can now not only attend college, but complete college with less worry about the cost," Blair said. "I am full of gratitude and appreciation and feel like this scholarship has helped make my goal of becoming a nurse more of a reality."

Fred Kitchens, executive director of the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation, was on hand to award the scholarship to Blair.

Created in 1964, the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation has provided 1,048 scholarships totaling more than $1.3 million for deserving students. The foundation awards full-tuition scholarships to non-research universities and colleges throughout the University System of Georgia.

"We're proud to be able to award these scholarships to deserving students so they can really focus on attending school," Kitchens said.
