Two men were arrested Thursday evening and charged with armed robbery after producing a handgun and taking a small amount of money from a male student on the Gordon State College campus. The student was not injured.

Charges are pending against two 20-year-old males, both from Sparta, Ga. Neither of the suspects are students.

The student was sitting on a wall in the vicinity of The Village residence hall when he was robbed around 11:30 p.m. The suspects drove away from campus but were later stopped for a traffic violation by a City of Barnesville police officer. In the process of issuing a look out about the campus incident, Gordon officers heard city police radio chatter, suspected there might be a connection and the two suspects were arrested.

The suspects are in custody at the Lamar County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
