Once again it is a 100 percent pass rate for the Spring 2015 graduates of the Gordon State College nursing program.

All 40 graduates who took the National Council Licensing Examination - which is required to obtain a license to practice nursing - passed.

"We could not be prouder that we have a 100 percent pass rate," said Anne Purvis, dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. "The public will benefit greatly from the expertise of these new nurses."

Purvis said most of the nurses will remain in the region and will be employed at hospitals and other health care facilities.

"Our nurses always perform well on the NCLEX, but having a 100 percent pass rate is superior," she said. "It speaks well of our program, our instructors and most of all of our excellent students."

Nursing is the most popular degree program at Gordon State College. Since it was started in 1972, the same year Gordon joined the University System of Georgia, more than 2,600 students have graduated the program.

The Gordon State College School of Nursing and Health Sciences offers an associate degree in nursing as well as a bachelor degree in health services and informatics administration, a RN-BSN completion degree and was recently approved to offer a pre-licensure bachelor of science degree in nursing.
